Wordcamp 2010: Why we turned Microsoft Office into a Game

At the start of May, I gave a talk down in San Francisco on how game design can plug a gaping hole in the current practice of application design.

Here is the pdf with the speaking notes included. This contains a bit more than the actual talk.

take care
Danc.

PS: You can embed PDF files in slide share!  This allows me to share my presentation with notes.  That took me a long time to figure out.  Thank you, Rashmi!

    2. Office Live should let you upload and share a powerpoint with comments.

It's part of the Office 2010 push for "cloud services", but basically it's Microsoft's answer to Google Docs.

    3. Okay Danc, now you've done it! Where does one find the 'diary game'? I'm totally looking forward to it.

    4. Walked (sadly) away from Ribbon Hero in the beginning because it was restricted to Office 2010. On a lark I surfed to Office Labs today - and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a version of RH that would work with Office 2007 AND on an XP machine! Off to grab me some points...

    5. Hey Dan, love the new site. It's been over a year since you've posted game art; do you have anything brewing?

    7. I think the Office game is very interesting but it's never something I'd play willingly. That said, I think it would be an excellent alternative to dry company training.

    8. Hi Dan, I tried emailing a few times and it won't recognise your address. Mine is lovetoplayusa [at] gmail.com and I'm filming a doco about gamer culture. I thought you might be interested.
